OGame Official Rules :
§1 Accounts
I Account-Sharing
Account-sharing is not allowed. The account must be played by one individual only - with the only exception being temporary Account-sitting following these rules:
II Account-Sitting
Account-sitting is allowed only if the following rules are being obeyed:
1) Account may be sitted for a maximum of 48 continuous hours.
2) A person must only take care of one additional account (that is, a total of two accounts is possible, the own account and the account being sitted, respectively). The account being sitted and the sitter's own account can be located in the same Ogame Universe.
3) After returning the sitted account to its owner, a period of seven days must pass until the same account may be sitted again.
4) Once the account-sitter has returned the account to its owner, seven days must pass until the person is allowed to sitt another account.
5) If the owner of the account is away for more than 48 hours, sitting the account is not allowed and the account should be put in vacation mode.
6) During account-sitting, no modification may take place regarding the dynamic eMail-address or the password of the account being sitted.
An account being sitted my not have active fleet. As a consequence, only the building of structures using the given resources on the respective planets may take place (no shipping of resources is allowed!). The only exception allowed in this matter is an attacking foreign fleet capable of causing major damage, where the endangered fleet may be saved from the planet being attacked. In this case, the fleet may be saved to an other planet of the respective account - saving to a debris field or foreign planet is still prohibited!
Fleets from accounts within the same alliance, or of a coalition, are not considered a foreign fleet. The relevant point here is the political relationship meaning the affiliation to an ally is relevant and not just the alliance tag (so changing the alliance for an attack doesn't help).
Violations to these rules will be punished according to the multi-accounting regulations.
III Multi-Accounting
Every player is entitled for a single account at a time per OGame universe. multiple accounts of the same individual will be blocked. Accounts for the sole purpose of pushing another account - no matter if active (e.g. shipping of resources) or passive (e.g. raid target) also fall under this regulation. If several users are accessing the game using the same network IP (e.g. School, company, group house etc), the respective players are required to prove they are individuals, if doubted.
Special care should be taken to ensure no more common account settings are being used, when the IP already is identical to multiple accounts.
An identical IP alone is not a common reason to be blocked.Sending resources to a player having the same IP or attacking the same targets together with a player on same IP can result in a ban as well as an attack on a player having the same IP as the attacker.
IV Account Exchange
Any given account is related to the person to which the fixed eMail-adress belongs to. If users exchange accounts without the assistance of a game operator, no complaints or requests will be processed unless these originate from the fixed mail addresses with in the given accounts.
Also there will be no backups or account rescues when the account exchange takes place without a game operator.
Game operators can not only exchange two accounts easily, they can ensure security (from fraud).
V IP-Check Deactivated
Lost accounts with the "IP Check" deactivated do not entitle the user to get the account back. The IP Check may only be turned off, if and only if this is the only way to gain normal game-play or when the game operator requests to do so. Its on the user to provide proof for the need to deactivate the IP check.
§2 Bug-Using
Exploiting errors, misbehaviors or bugs in the programming of OGame and usage of such to one's own advantage - so called bug-using - is not allowed. Every player is required to report found bugs immediately. Exploiting bugs to gain advantage in the game-play may be blocked from 1 day to indefinite time depending on the severity of the exploitation of a bug. The same applies to a player refusing to report a found bug.
Adding special characters to planet names can be punished as bug-using as it can be judged as an attempt to evade scans / attacks.
§3 Interference With Game Technology
Installations and methods that cause excessive internet traffic to the server or can be used to impair normal gameplay should be omitted. In particular, automatic or semi-automatic scripts capable of interacting with the game database or issuing game commands, are prohibited and usage or installation of such result in an immediate and permanent ban form the entire game.
We reserve the right to claim damage in the amount of the caused damage plus coverage for administrative expenses.
§4 Extortion
Extortions and threats that relate to a players "real life" (physical, as compared to "virtual live" on the net) can cause limited or unlimited blockage of the respective account the threats or extortions were sent. Such blockage would also cover access to the OGame Forum.
§5 Bashing
I Definition/Restriction
More than 3 attacks on a single planet in one day (24 hours) are defined as bashing and thus not allowed. Instead of these 3 attacks, those attacks may also be 3 "wave attacks" where a wave consists of a maximum number of 3 fleets which arrive at the target planet within a time span of 30 minutes.
II Exceptions From Above:
Exceptions from the bashing rule are as follows:
1. War : If the participating parties are engaged in war, additional attacks are possible. The war must be declared at least 12 hours before any attacking fleets hit their target and war must be declared in the OGame-Forum (Area of Diplomacy) as well as both opponents' names must be set in the thread's title using their correct names and/or tags. War can only be declared on alliances, not on individuals. Declaration of war doesn't need to be acknowledged by the opponent.
2. Insulting : If a player being attacked spells out insulting messages, additional attacks are allowed. Proving the insult is a matter for the attacker and a game operator should be contacted. The insulting messages needs to be kept in the messages area of the account for a game operator can check its legitimacy. After an insult has been reported and acknowledged by a game operator, the bashing regulation is suspended for a period of time defined by the game operator.
III Special Cases
In-game actions such as repeated attacks to an extend where the attacked player is unable to play the game and build up can be punished whereas the decision is made by the game operator.
§6 Pushing*
I Definition / Prohibition
Pushing means to send resources to another account without any apparent return service. This is only allowed when the account being pushed has a lesser game score than the account sending the resources. Pushing does not only cover the simple sending of resources, but as a few EXAMPLES, it would also cover:
- presenting resources on a planet for later retrieval using (multiple) attacks;
- attacks with an inferior fleet in order to create a debris field to be harvested;
- additional way and possibilities where one account gets resources without sending back some (dealing).
So-called banks or resource depots require the acknowledgment of a game super operator or game admin. The player is required to prove return service taking not place simultaneous to the resource sending to the back/depot.
payment of credits, headhunting orders and other similar actions not causing immediate return service of resources thus are being conducted on behalf of the participating parties' risk.
Sharing recyclers and sending the harvested resources to the account that caused the debris, is not allowed UNLESS a game operator has been asked for permission.**
II Exceptions
- Attacks using an inferior fleet are permitted if the target planet does not yet have a moon and the resulting debris from the fleet does not exceed the amount required to get a 20% chance for a moon (that is, 20millions of resources in total). This method can be used multiple times until a moon is created.
- After an attack the alliance and its respective wings are allowed to send resources to the damaged account in order to provide help in reconstruction. The amount of resources sent must not exceed the damaged cause to the account the resources are sent to. The account getting reconstruction help is required to prove the case to the game admin IN ADVANCE of any shipments so the game operator can see the combat report.
§7 Withdraw
Actions done by a game operator responsible for a given OGame universe can only be reversed by another game operator if the game admin having done the action(s) agrees.
§8 Refund
1. If a player faces disadvantages caused by programming errors or other misbehaviors or errors by the OGame team, he is not generally entitled for any refunding or resurrection of the accounts state before the occurrence of the disadvantage (e.g. backup).
2. Should a player try to circumvent a decision or its implications issued by a game operator by contacting another game operator about the same matter, the player is excluded from further game play (Exception: Intervention by contacting the superior super game operator).
§9 Exclusion From The Game
Every objection to these rules may lead to blocking the account or exclusion from the game. Depending on the severity of the offending action the punishment can be extended to all OGame universes and possibly further service provided by OGame such as the official OGame forum or the related IRC channels. Members of the OGame team agree to fully present the offending action according to the best of their knowledge and their beliefs.
§10 General Operating Conditions
Players which can't agree to the general operating conditions of OGame due to their nationality, age or other reasons, are presented with the standard operating conditions using the internal interpretations of the rules as an addition. This way no legal binding of the player to the general operating conditions is established, however an equal position for all players is attained regarding the judgment of issues.
The game is english and the language is english as well. If a player recieves a non-english ingame message and complains about it the person who sent the message might get banned.
* This represents an intermediate solution until the upcoming alliance trading system is establish at a later time.
** Explanation: Within a balanced alliance, asking for help with recyclers is a common thing. In the long term, this should become balanced among the active members of the alliance, making it possible for the sender of some recyclers to actually keep the collected resources. If helping out with recyclers would be generally allowed, a situation can appear where an alliance uses one account for building fleet while the remaining accounts of the alliance would harvest the debris caused by attacks of the account with fleet. This would result in a pushing situation.
Tips For Beginners -
Start with building resource mines and power plants first, after a while start building a scientific laboratory etc
- Watch out you always have enough energy to run the mines or the efficiency is lowered;)
- Defensive systems can provided a moderate protection from casual attacks!
- Soon after you feel comfortable in the game, look out for joining existing alliances or even establish an own one!
